Tukhme Khurfa

Tukhme Khurfa or Purslane Seeds are small black seeds obtained from the purslane plant. It is a succulent weed whose leaves, stems, and seeds can be used in salads and many other dishes. Scientifically it is known as Portulaca oleraceae and more commonly they also may be referred to as Tukhme Kulfa or Kulfa.

In Tibb-e-Unani, Purslane seeds are used in many medicines. They are rich in calcium, potassium, and magnesium. In addition, they are a good source of alpha-linolenic and gamma-linolenic acid. They are cool in nature and have multiple properties including, Antidysentric, antidiarrhoeal, vermifuge, anti-inflammatory, antibacterial,  demulcent, astringent.
